mbkknowsp4p – Words of Wisdom…

Posted by John Obama | Blog, Reader Submissions | Posted on December 17th, 2006

Fell for an old trick last night. Only had 1000 baht notes and
asked cab driver if he had change. He said yes, and took me to Lang
Suan Tunnel club from outside Qbar at 2am. When we get to club, I give
him 1000 baht note in the dark cab, and he quickly palmed it and
replaced it with 500 baht note, turning on the light and saying ‘you
give me 500 baht note OK?’ (a very slick and practiced move by the
way). Plenty of ranting and raving, but nothing much I can do – his
word against mine, and large crowd of Thais gathering around outside
club watching us go at it, so I decide to congratulate him on getting
one over on me, walk into the club and forget it. Life is too short to
get too upset by these things. Cab driver number was 255 by the way.
And he will find a huge tear in the back seat of his leather seat made
by my house key when he wasn’t looking that will cost him way more than
500 baht to fix when he checks his cab today!

Ratio of sexes in Tunnel last night was not good for most of the
evening – huge number of guys there. But they must not have been used
to paying (most of them looked like tourists the cabbies had dragged
here), because at 4am when the bar closed, most of the girls were still
there and getting desperate for business.

Coyote Dancing Update

The craze for coyote dancing continues in Bangkok. I think there
are two basic types of Coyote Dance establishment, with the difference
between them being very minor.

There are membership clubs – such as The Resort on Ekkamai, Forte
on RCA, Ritz on Sukhumvit Soi 11 or Sopranos on Sukhumvit Soi 26 – and
then there are clubs that do not require membership such as Sugar (300
metres down Sukhumvit Soi 24 on the right) or Da Vinci on Rama 9
(between Ekkamai and RCA).

All the clubs share some things in common:

- Lots of very hot, young girls dancing coyote style on stages and
on the bar. Personally, I find the coyote-style outfits very sexy, even
more so than most of what you see the girls wearing (or not wearing) at
the go-gos.

- They also have ‘pretties’ who are hostesses who do not dance coyote style on stage

- Intermixed with the dancing are entertainers who sing mostly current hits and thai classic pop songs

- The girls are normally NOT from Isarn (or Eesan or Eesarn or
Esarn or however the hell you want to spell it). Many are actually from
Bangkok.

- They are usually fairer in complexion and taller than the girls
you typically see in Patpong/Nana/Cowboy/Soi 33/Soi 22 areas. They
appeal to more Asian taste in women, or to me (since the longer I live
in Bangkok the more my taste seems to be becoming very Asian!).

- They may not speak English very well if at all

- They are mostly Uni students (last 4 girls I have spoken to in these clubs all came from the same Uni – Ramkamhaeng!)

- They are very expensive places to go and drink! Beers cost
280baht each, lady drinks at least 300baht and sometimes a lot more.
Spend a couple of hours in these places, buying a few lady drinks and
maybe a snack, and you are looking at bills between 3000 to 4000 baht.

- Very few non-Asians as clients in these places – they cater to
mostly Thais and East Asian customers (Japan, SIngapore, Malaysia, Hong
Kong, Taiwan, etc)

- There is very little about these clubs on the Internet, except for web sites/forums mostly for local Thai or East Asian guys.

- This is the most important point – the girls working in these
clubs ARE NOT WHORES and DO NOT GO OUT WITH CUSTOMERS FOR SEX. Can’t
emphasize this point enough since I continually see the occasional
farang visitor to these clubs acting like he is in Cowboy or Soi 33 and
pissing everyone off big time. You can ‘bar fine’ the girls and take
them out, but it costs a small fortune (better to wait until the club
closes) and they expect to be taken out clubbing and not anything else!

- The customers are usually dressed in more stylish clothes than you see in the other night life areas

The only major difference between the membership clubs and the
non-membership clubs is the pressure to get a membership! Sounds stupid
but it really is true. You can visit the membership clubs as a
non-member, but you can’t do this very often, or on a busy night, and
you will pay a lot more for drinks as a non-member than as a member.
You will also have a sales girl with you the whole time trying to get
you to become a member. The non-membership clubs do offer membership
(confused yet?) but it is not necessary, just gives you cheaper drinks,
and there is not a lot of pressure to become a member. These non-member
clubs don’t mind how busy they are or how many times you visit, you
don’t have to become a member to get in.

Each club is very different from each other in atmosphere,
friendliness, ambience, quality of entertainment and in other subtle
ways.

My comments on the ones i know about?

Sugar – mostly young Thai clientele, very average entertainment,
strange setup with people from the street outside able to see into the
club, easy to meet and talk to the girls who are very friendly.
Energetic dancing. But this club surely has a limited time in business
- it is just not busy enough and a lot of the girls are leaving. No
pressure to be a member at all.

Da Vinci – just too damn huge. Like an aircraft hanger. No
atmosphere at all. Lame entertainment. Very poor dancing by the girls -
look like they are just going through the motions and can’t wait to get
off stage. They also don’t seem to be on stage very often. Huge numbers
of these cute dancers, but not so easy to just go up and talk to them -
all arranged through mamasan through line-ups that I don’t much care
for. And same problem as Sugar – surely this club can’t survive for
long in this format – I was there at midnight on a Saturday night and
there were less than 10 customers (with more than 100 girls working in
the club!). Lots of pressure here to buy stuff (not surprising given
the lack of customers). You also get charged here by the half-hour if
you are a slow drinker! They also ask if you want to be a member, but
don’t push it too hard.

Ritz – overly plush and full of itself. Average girls and lame
entertainment. Not many dancers, and they just don’t seem to get into
it much. I think this club is struggling to find its feet after being
open for about 3 months now. Lots of pressure to be a member, even
calling and SMS after you visit. Expensive and no real party
atmosphere.

The Resort – young girls, seem to be into the dancing, average
entertainment, lots of hostesses here not all of whom are cute, very
aggressive on membership and problems with loading of the bills, mostly
young Thai and Asian customers.

Forte – excellent club, usually busy, great atmosphere, hot girls,
great dancing. More than the usual number of non-Asian customers here -
and more likley to find girls who speak English. Usual pressure to be a
member.

Sopranos – in my opinion easily the best. Everything works here -
large number of  very hot girls, tremendous party atmosphere most
nights (especially at special party theme nights – I won’t forget
Halloween night here in a hurry!), easy to meet and talk, the staff are
all excellent, but most of all the entertainment itself is worth paying
money to see. The bands here are simply outstanding. And every night
the dancers put on a show that is well rehearsed and worth seeing. The
girls here really want to dance – even if they don’t have to they often
jump up on the stage – often with two girls getting it on with each
other with dirty dancing. They also have raised glass-enclosed stage
areas where girls in bikinis get soaked (and seem to always lose their
tops in the process).  I must declare a bias here, as I am seeing one
of the dancers (who stays at my place after she finishes work a few
times each week, and occasionally brings one of her dancer friends with
her..) but I still think this place rocks if I am as objective as
possible. I continually read about how good the shows are in places
like Nana or Cowboy or in Pattaya – but nothing I have seen in Thailand
comes close to the shows I have seen at Sopranos (such as last week’s
Penthouse Girls G-String show!).

I work with a bunch of very rich Thai businessmen, and they only
use two places that are familiar to me to relax or entertain visitors -
Posiedon model girls for massage and Sopranos for parties. I think that
is very revealing, because these guys really know Bangkok.

Now – about getting into these girls pants – because it can be done….in all of these clubs…

- It helps if you know at least some Thai

- You need to look wealthy, and act wealthy. I suppose t helps if you are wealthy (!).

- It helps if you are a resident here rather than a pass-through
tourist – these girls are looking for boyfriend material, sponsors,
regular arrangements, not drive-by encounters

- Know where to take the girls for fun after hours, especially on the weekend (no Uni the next day!)

- They have to like you, simple as that, so you need to treat
these girls like a regular date and impress them, make them laugh, show
them a good time

- Don’t be too pushy or hands-all-over-them in the bar – take it slow

- You might have to visit 2-3 times and see the same girl each
time before her defences wear down, phone numbers get exchanged,
arrangements made for a dinner/movie on her night off

- When you do get them into your bed, be aware that these girls
may not be experienced – which can be either good or bad. You would be
amazed at how many virgins there are coyote dancing across Bangkok.

- If you really click, then you may not have to pay for their time. Which can make all the up-front investment worthwhile.

Is all this trouble worth it? Depends on your tastes and your
wallet. If you can afford it, then my answer is yes. You can enjoy the
company of hot, young, tall Uni-student Thai girls (that even other
Thai guys think are attractive) that you know don’t have other paying
clients. And after a while you do get tired of the usual Isarn-girl
night zones in Bangkok and the bullshit you have to deal with there.

There are many other coyote clubs across Bangkok I did not cover
as I have found the ones I like. Maybe other readers can contribute on
them? One that we do know about is Fish (in Lad Phrao). I have seen
pictures on blog sites of very cute coyote dancers at a club called The
White House and another called The Sky Club but can’t for the life of
me find out where these places are in Bangkok (anyone know?). On this
site there has been reference to a non-membership coyote club called
Pent on Ekkamai – but I can’t find it (and I looked hard one night).
There is a membership club called Pent on Wireless Road that does have
Coyote dancers though.

There are many mens membership clubs in Bangkok that do not have
coyote dancers – but just about everything else I wrote here still
applies to them and the girls who work there. Some of these clubs
welcome non-Asian customers, some don’t. Some have Karaoke or snooker.
They all have various kinds of entertainment, usually lounge-style
singers. They are all a bit different from each other. Mostly they are
similar to Japanese hostess clubs. A few I have been to include Piano
(Ekkamai), Exotica (Ekkamai) and Pegasus (in Narcissus building near
Sukhumvit Soi 23). Pegasus is a little different, as there are a group
of girls there that you can take out for sex. I did manage to convince
a girl from Piano to visit my apartment after she finished work the
same night I went there, a lovely student from Chiang Mai, but I’m not
sure that is usual.

These are other membership clubs that I know about that I have not
been able (yet) to check out, so I’m not sure of their format or if
they have coyote dancers or not.

Resort Club on Ratchada (not to be confused with Resort on Ekkamai)

Chateau Le Blanc – Ekkamai

Caribbean – Prachauthit Rd

Tango – Sukhumvit Soi 42

And, finally, the
situation gets even more confused as the large massage parlor complexes
across the city add hostess clubs and gentlemens lounges to their
services in addition to the more traditional fish-tank approach.
Examples include the afore-mentioned Poseidon but also Amsterdam,
Emmanualle, Plaza Entertainment Centre, La Defence and Colonze. And, of
course, the traditional Thai night spots (like Coliseum on Sukhumvit
near Thong-Lo or Hollywood and Dance Fever on Ratchada) also now
feature coyote dancers in their acts.

There are dozens more
membership clubs scattered across the city, more than a lifetime to
explore! Come on guys – post your feedback and experiences on this
board. Most of the Internet content on Bangkok sucks big time and is
heavily biased towards the usual farang-friendly Nana, Patpong, Cowboy,
Soi 33, Washington Square, Soi 22 parts of the city. I’m fed up reading
about the show in Angelwitch at Nana (which is a good show by the way)
when in the same city I am seeing incredible shows in places like
Sopranos and seeing stunning girls that are not even mentioned on the
web at all. Time to reveal the real Bangkok.

Nice report, it’s nice to read about some of the more Thai local places in Bangkok.

FYI, The White House is on Rachadaphisek Road, I’ve driven past it many times but have never really paid attention to it’s exact location. Anyway it’s on the odd numbered side, not too far from the Soi 4 area.

hey i was at sopranos on halloween. i won two bottles of champagne that night! there weren’t many other farangs (i assume you are a farang), except for a small group of guys around 50 and a youngish guy sitting by himself at the bar (not sure if you fall into one of those groups).

it’s best to go to those places with other asians. although the girls are not nana-style isarn prostitutes and indeed many claim to be “students” (push them on this a little and you’ll see it’s just a standard response at these places with little or no connetion to reality), they do go home with people they like and/or have money, so don’t deceive yourself that these are the “good girls” of Bangkok – their families wouldn’t let them come within 100 yards of places like these unless they happen to be driving by in the benz on their way to emporium.

I can comment on The Sky as I have been there multiple times. I don’t know the exact location but it is very near On Nut and Srinrikan (sp?). Not far from both Ramkhamheang and ABAC uni’s (u wont see ABAC students since they don’t need the money). This is the only coyote bar I’ve been too so I can’t compare to others but I really enjoy it. 90% of the girls are good looking. All the ones that my friends and I have had are friendly and like to have a good time. The band is ok. What not to miss is the girl who sings american songs after the band is over. She is drop dead gorgeous and will give you a hard on just watching her sing and dance.

Ask for P’Pink, who is a table manager there and she can hook you up with girls that speak english. I have my absolute favorite who I get everytime but I will not reveal who she is:) Other girls to be on the look out for are Punch and Butter…both are slightly crazy and can dance your pants off. Guaranteed good time.

    Mochalover,
just befriend a Mama-san at Soprano House (Sukhumvit soi 26), Tango (Sukhunvit soi 42), Sherbet (Ekkamai soi 6), The Ritz (Sujkhumvit soi 11), The Pent (Wireless Road), Piano (Ekkamai soi 6), etc. and they all will reveal to your innocent eyes that:
    A) 30 per cent at least and on average 50 per cent of the girls in these establishments are available for sex for cash (subject to polite direct or through third party request, and subject to whether they fancy you enough). Fees are higher than for the straight professionals in other Thai establishments (i.e. Poseidon and other 5 stars massage parlours). Just ask your friendly Mama-san for a lady for the night.

    B) All the girls are likely to have sex with you if they like you enough (i.e if you are handsome and young, or old and rich, or old and great fun with moderate cash). Some may consent after a couple of special day/night outings (posh restaurants, posh shopping). But you (Mama-san says) are not advised to follow this “courtship” path, as you are likely to waste too much time and money by Thai scene standards. Unless, of course, she is really oh so special…

As to the university type, you will not find many (if any) girls from Chula or Thammasat. Most of the students come from the low grade varsities, and all seem to be on a marketing diploma course. But I agree we are a few thousand feet above the PatPong-Nana-youraverage touristmeatmarket. And since when there are no white skinned Isaan girls?

Oh, I almost forgot. Mama-sans and their “Sales assistants” are also inclined to fall for your charms, whether monetary or otherwise. And once they have assessed your performance, they can become your best allies in dealing with the rest of the girls…

    Guys,

    Thanks for feedback.

Kallah – I was the single guy by the bar on Halloween, thanks for considering me ‘young’, obviously you did not get to see me close up!

Agree with everyone that a lot of the girls say Uni but that is just a line, and also that the ones that are at Uni are likely to be tier 2 or 3 and studying lame courses….

Also agree that they can be bedded – I think that was my point – but just not as blatantly or overtly as I see jackasses try to do who venture into these places from the Nana/Cowboy/Patpong/Soi 33 universe. And they can and do say “no” more often than not unless you have something going for you (looks, money..).

And good tips on the mama-san approach from Hanuman. I am very friendly with a couple, one from Sopranos and another from Ritz, and may try taking it further to see where it leads…

I currently am seeing one of the dancers at Sopranos, but am very suspicuous of her motives, since it has not cost me anything so far……..and I know I’m not that good!

Keep up the posts on a different take on Bangkok’s night scene.

Soprano is good fun, though IMHO it was better during the Orbit days when it catered to a younger crowd.

I find the pressure for memberships etc varies greatly depending on how much of a whale you are perceived to be. Whereas I’ve blown vast amounts of cash at Caribbean and Soprano, at Resort I’ve barely touched the lady drinks and the treatment there reflects it- much less pressure but also less attention.

A friend of mine is also dating one of the dancers and I’ve recently sponsored one myself who has given me the inside dig on the girls’ various techniques, such as…

    a) Most important point- get repeat customers
    b) Judge a customer by their clothes, watch, shoes, and mannerisms
    c) Go to dinner in Emporium, Paragon, and other places where shopping can be done after dinner
    d) Dinner should be on a working night so the customer knows she can’t go back to his place afterwards
    e) Don’t have sex too quickly- the customer will lose interest

All in all a fun diversion from the usual routine, though I recommend not going to Cowboy etc afterwards as the contrast can be striking!

I have fun at these places but I am not seeing the merits of trying to take the girls. I used to go to orbit and agreed it was pretty cool.

I am finding that trying to take the girls at the member’s club does not seem to add up. They get jealous when u try for other girls at the same club, they want a lot of money (whether through shopping, dinner or the overpriced ladydrinks), and they seem to be as hard to get into bed as a normal girl u might meet at RCA but I don’t pay the normal girl.

For a change of pace they are fun but for trying to pull it is not adding up for me. I like taking newbies to these places for the amount of hot looking girls unlike what u see in Cowboy or Nana but for sheer partying and getting some they can’t compare.

You asked about White House club. It is part of the Rachada Seafood complex near Rachadapisek Soi 5 and directly across the road from Hollywood. I’ve eaten at the seafood place, reasonable prices, good food and service – open all night and good for people watching – but not gone to the clubs.

Have you been to the club behind Esplanade – Baranee? I don’t think it is anything special but you may well know better.

Good friend checked out White House last weekend and told me it was not so good – and he should know as he regularly visits Sopranos, Forte, Sugar Club, Caribbean and other g-clubs in the suburbs. He told me it was small and only had small number of not so hot dancers and pretties. He did tell me that Resort on Ratchada (another g-club) was very good however. This he really rated and would go again.

None of my set of friend knows much about Baranee – sorry.

Soprano is really a great place, totally my fav.
Been there 2-3x a week last year, now start going again, got dozen of friends in there working, the Band “Maria” is playing incredible amazing! One of the best Bands I’ve heard yet in BKK.

The girls earn about 60-90’000 a month, “without” going to customers home, there are so many “old” papas with money which sponsor them.

They just laugh about it, because it’s so easy to get money, I’m 21 by the way, my gf’s working there too. Anyway, very good place, Membership is 30’000 ;) but believe me, it’s worth it.

Sopranos is cool. I prefer Forte but I have also been hearing good things about the Pent and met a few ladies out one night from the Pent that were very cool. Smoking hot as well.

On this 60-90 k per month. I do not think that is the average nor do I think they are not banging someone for some of it. I just think it is less of a direct pay for sex model. More indirect so to speak. I think there salaries are like 10-30k depending on who or how popular they are. So where is the rest of that money coming from? Ladydrinks to be sure especially given they are like 200 or more a pop. But where is the rest of the cash coming from? Boyfriends, giks, sugardaddies? Sure – but are all these people not getting sex? I don’t think so. Would be nice to dig into the economics of this scene some more. For them to make that much money is flowing from some dude’s pocket to the girls even if it is in the form of gifts and night’s out but I think the gifter is not always going without.

I, being Asian (although not East-Asian), am attracted to fair-skinned girls. That is why I visit the 3rd floor of Poseidon at a regularly base. The girls here are as beautiful and hot as the girls at the Resort. In fact I consider these MP’s as much better value for money than the G-clubs. In the first place: I can have good sex with a stunning beauty. In the second place: when time is over I am rid of her (and can start heading towards another darling). And last but not least: it is much cheaper. I have spent thousands of bhts. in a well-known G-club without getting anything satisfying.
