There are women handing one one-page colour flyers for outcall massage all over the central area of Macau. I collected as many as I could and obtained 18 – all with different telephone numbers. I doubt the Macau market supports 18 agencies. I expect a few agencies have several numbers to give customers the illusion of more choice.

The flyers are all the same with photos of beautiful young light-skinned well endowed girls and Chinese text offering their services for a low price.

I called one number and the man who answered spoke no English. A second try got someone who was very direct: ‒What you want? How much you pay?” Maybe that’s how the Chinese negotiate but it didn’t appeal to me, so I passed. I have only used an agency once, in Singapore when I didn’t know any better. I was bait-and-switched and have disliked the business model ever since.

Most hotels have a Health Club or Sauna that includes massage services. There are also many stand alone businesses again in the old part of town. The stand alone businesses are marketed with billboards (‒Sauna Fun, Fun, Fun” anyone?) and with someone outside who can explain the services offered.

I went to a stand alone sauna, the Golden Sauna on Rua de Cantão. When I entered the lobby they got a girl who spoke passable English to explain the options to me. Hang said she was from Hanoi and was good looking and charming herself. It wasn’t her fault but I misunderstood the options as will be clear later.

Hang said they have three packages available: A) 90 minutes massage only with a girl chosen by the sauna for 378 Pataca (~US$48). B) 90 minutes massage and sex with a girl chosen by the sauna for 598 Pataca (~US$77) and C) (I thought she said) the same as option B but I get to choose a girl from a line-up for 968 Pataca (~US$125).

She said that if I chose A or B and didn’t like the girl I can request another. She said those girls are dark skinned from China or Mongolia whereas the option C girls are all light skinned, younger and more beautiful. I liked the idea of a choice so I splurged and went for option C. Chinese men strongly prefer light skin hence the large premium.

Hang was pleased with my choice and took me to the locker room. She let me choose my locker number (Chinese like lucky numbers. I took #99). I undressed and Hang helped me put my clothes in a locker to which she gave me the key. She showed me to the shower / hot tub / sauna area where I was welcome to stay as long as I liked. When I was ready she said she’d show me to the lounge where her boss would let me choose my lady.

If you’ve been to a Sauna in Hong Kong the set up was very similar. My favourite is Silver Spring in Yau Ma Tei so I compared with that.

I had a shower and sat in the hot tub for a while. Hang suggested a sauna but I said no to that. So she got me complimentary satin shorts, short robe and flip-flops and took me to the lounge.

I sat in a comfortable armchair, smoked one of their cigarettes and got an orange juice. They had Chinese shows on flat screen TVs. Unfortunately there weren’t any other services available like a manicure, pedicure or ear cleaning as they have in Hong Kong. At least I wasn’t offered any.

It was fairly quiet but there was a steady stream of men coming in and out. Within five minutes the mamasan brought six girls out, all wearing pink long dresses with number badges. They first went to another customer at the front. They all say “Hello” in Mandarin and bow, then stand there looking expectant waiting for him to choose. He chose one and then the mamasan brought the rest over to me. #171 was the easy choice – the others were fine but I liked her face, tall slim figure and natural breasts. One or two were bustier, one had red curly hair. They were all light skinned – that’s what I was paying the premium for.

She had me strip and sit on the bed while she gave me a shoulder and arm massage. I enjoyed watching her perfect body and graceful movements. Of course she was purely professional: all business. I got a bit aroused and was relieved the Vitamin V was working.

Then she went to a shower and readied it. She had me sit in a padded chair which didn’t have a full seat to give her access to my privates. She washed and massaged me with soap. She massaged my penis slightly then went on to my legs. Her massage was competent but again nothing really erotic. I was a gentleman and didn’t touch her.

She soaped my feet and rubbed them over her breasts. (I thought: a Thai would never do that). Then she rubbed my penis with her breasts and finally rubbed her beasts over my chest. It was all quite brief, just going through the motions. That chair had many more possibilities but she didn’t exercise any of them.

Then she had me turn in the seat and she soapy massaged my back and rubbed it with her breasts.

That was it for the shower. Next to the bed where she had me wait while she fetched a cup of hot water and some ice. She had me lie on the bed where she did a hot water and ice blowjob. It was great sensation but again all too brief. I felt like I was getting a sampler rather than real service.

She licked my nipples briefly and let me touch her pussy and breasts but very lightly. She had a neatly trimmed but very hairy bush. I would have loved to have licked it but that wasn’t on the menu. She alternated between hot water and ice three times then reached for a condom.

Interestingly she held the condom up and asked “OK?”. Maybe it would have been acceptable for me to say no – perhaps for an additional charge. I was good and said OK.

There was a price list in the lounge for more massage/sex services broken out by nationality of girl. They mention Thai and Vietnamese and also European (most expensive.) There was a reference to “AV Girl” but I don’t know what that meant. Perhaps special services like anal?

editor – We will see if we get any comments but in Japan and Taiwan – this is Audio Video girl. Someone more famous or a real looker. Kind of like the models club at the various massage places in Thailand.

The girls came out for two more customers, including Shu. I think she was chosen again as I didn’t see her the second time. Both times I saw the others I was sure she was the most attractive. I would not be surprised if she is #1 girl: at least for the afternoon shift (the place is open 24 hours a day).

Soon after 5pm I got bored watching Hong Kong movies and cartoons and decided to leave. So I went back to the locker room, dressed and went to the front desk. I was impressed the bill was only the advertised 968 Pataca. The drinks and food were included. They didn’t solicit any tips but I left a small amount for Hang and for Shu.

I think Silver Spring in Hong Kong is better value. They have the body scrubs, ear cleaning, manicure and pedicure available. The waitresses are cute and like to flirt. The massage girls do full service (‒special”) and massage for 888 Hong Kong dollars. Last time I was there I had an extremely wet and horny girl from Guangzhou who told me how good I was compared with Chinese men. Even if it wasn’t true it was great for my ego.

They are a bit more discreet about the sex in Hong Kong whereas in Macau it is all out in the open. It took me several visits to Silver Spring before I was offered a special, to the point where I didn’t believe it was available.

Later I got hold of a Golden Sauna menu in English. Then I understood that my option C was for 60 minutes sex-only with my choice of young Chinese or Taiwanese girl (18-23). These super models commanded more of a premium than I thought.

Option B would have been better as it was cheaper, gave me 90 minutes but it was with their choice of girl. That would have been fine for me as I don’t care about skin colour. Indeed perhaps a Vietnamese or Thai (!) would have been more fun and horny. Shu was a super-model but she only went through the motions. I guess that is exactly what many Chinese men want: to feel they had sex and got off with a beautiful girl – no need for any connection.

I checked some other saunas and found the prices and packages to be similar.

The Hotel Lisboa used to be the premier hotel/casino in Macau and one of the few casinos in Asia. It’s now been eclipsed by the new modern places and is overshadowed by the huge Grand Lisboa. The exterior is funky and inside it’s all traditional gilt and over-decoration. I think it now attracts the lower budget gambler.

The casino has always had a ready supply of working ladies and they are still in ample supply. I expect some of the older properties like the Rio have them too, but not the new resorts like the Sands or the Wynn.

The working ladies are confined to a limited area of the ground floor, away from the lobby and casino which is one floor above. It is a hotel shopping mall with places to buy overpriced jewellery with your winnings. There are some other stores, for example a surprisingly good fruit stand, and a couple of restaurants.

The shops are arranged in a square and the ladies keep walking around the perimeter. They don’t seem to be permitted to stop and hang out anywhere. I think that gives the hotel the illusion that they are going somewhere and not soliciting. The omnipresent security guards ignore them but I expect they have to pay to work there.

I would rate the ladies as a level up from the streetwalkers. They dress in anything from tight jeans to elegant dresses. They’re all Chinese; I didn’t see any Russians. Like the streetwalkers they’ll approach men alone or in groups but don’t hang around if there is no interest.

If you are a resident of the hotel the ladies will accompany you to your room. Otherwise they use a room at the Health Club / Sauna on the same level.

I didn’t get any price quotes but I think they’ll want to charge more than the
streetwalkers.

If you haven’t been to Macau recently you’re in for a surprise. It’s expanding rapidly based on gambling. The old monopoly has been broken and many operators have moved in to build casinos and resorts. Construction is everywhere both on the Macau peninsula and on the islands of Taipa and Colerone. They’re bringing in labour from all over Asia. But still the old part of Macau is much quieter and characterful than Hong Kong. Maybe Macau will be able to get the best of both worlds.

To keep the blog posts brief I’ll split this report into four sections: 1) Streetwalkers; 2) Hotel Lisboa girls; 3) Massage parlours and 4) Outcall agencies.

An important point to remember is that the target market for the casinos and the sex scene is Mainland Chinese men. I estimate 90% of the visitors are from the PRC, many on short visits. They welcome customers from elsewhere and will happily take our money but the services are geared to the preferences of the Chinese man.

Streetwalkers

The only place I saw streetwalkers was near the Holiday Inn hotel in the old part of town: Rua de Pequim and the adjoining streets. There are some ladies there 24×7 but in the evenings I saw between 20 and 30.

The ladies I spoke to were all from the Mainland. They spoke little English apart from ‒massa-ge?” but that isn’t a skill they need for their target market. I’d say they were from the same population as you’ll see on the street in Mongkok. I saw some men hanging around keeping an eye on the ladies who I do not think were potential customers so I believe many of them are controlled by pimps.

Mostly they were ordinary ‒Girl Next Door” types, mostly light skinned and dressed fairly conservatively. There were a few obvious hookers in revealing outfits with plunging necklines but they were the exception. I didn’t see anyone above what I’d classify as a 7. They will approach potential customers but are not pushy if you say you’re not interested. Indeed most of the Chinese men I saw ignored them completely.

The Holiday Inn doesn’t seem to mind them sitting in small groups at their outdoor café. I sat there myself and was approached several times. As soon as they understood I wasn’t interested they disappeared. Their pimps don’t like them to chat.

I saw some blonde women too who I expect were Russian or Eastern European. They were more flashily dressed and pushy, waving to get customers’ attention. They are not my taste so I didn’t talk to any of them.

The ladies will accompany customers to their hotels but they have rooms available in the adjacent apartments to serve day-trippers.

The quoted rate was standard 1,000 Pataca for massa-ge (which means shower, blowjob and sex assuming the model is the same as Hong Kong.) They negotiate quickly down to 500. The Macau Pataca trades at about par with the Hong Kong Dollar so that’s between US$128 and US$64. Not cheap, but not a problem if you have won some money on the tables. I predict the service will be no more than perfunctory – they’re not after repeat business.
