UFC 109

UFC 109 ‘Relentless’ comes along Feb 6, from The Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. 109 comes off the injury cursed 108 event, which despite the less than impressive line-up, delivered some great fights, and here’s hoping we see more of the same here. Right, lets do this……..

Randy ‘The Naural’ Couture vs Mark ‘The Hammer’ Coleman

This is a fight that would of been good a decade ago, but has no business taking place now. The combined age of these 2 fighters? 91! That’s circus shit. I just see this as another fight to pad Randy Couture’s less-than-stellar 17-10 record.

Mark Coleman won the UFC 10 and 11 ’1 night tournaments’ and was the first ever UFC Heavyweight Champion. He was the first wrestler to really showcase ‘ground n pound’ in the MMA world. After falling from grace in the UFC after going 0-4 after his title win, he went on to compete in PRIDE, and went up against greats such as CroCop, Fedor (twice) and Antonio Nogueria – He lost against them all

Both of these guys are legends in the sport, but then again so are Pele and Maradona in football, does anyone really want to see them lace up a pair of boots again?

Coleman and Randy are both powerful wrestlers, so I can see them canceling each other out, and this turning into a very sloppy kickboxing match, like 2 wrinkly-dicked pensioners, fighting over the last Werthers Original

I have a feeling this fight will be painful to watch, and will look like its taking place under water. Randy is still in much better shape than Coleman, and I see this one being a very painful to watch, one-sided decision for Randy

Nate ‘The Great’ Marquardt vs Chael Sonnen

The winner of this fight, will go on to get a title shot against the winner of the upcoming Silva v. Belfort match in Abu Dhabi.

For my money (all of 50 baht), Nate Marquardt is the best Middleweight in the world, who’s name ISN’T Anderson Silva. He’s a great all-a-rounder, with great wrestling, vicious kickboxing, very slick Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and is an absolutely HUGE middleweight, who comes in over 200LBS by fight time.

He has wins over Dean Lister, Jeremy Horn, Martin Kampmann, Wilson Gouveia and a recent 21 second knockout over highly touted Damien Maia. His 2 UFC losses were a TKO to Anderson Silva (current champion) and a highly controversial decision loss to Thales Leities, which was awarded the ‘Sherdog Robbery of The Year’

Chael Sonnen is a strong wrestler, with some crisp stand-up lately. Since coming to the UFC from their sister-promotion, WEC, he looked very impressive in wins over Paulo Filho, Dan Miller and Yushin Okami. He was however, submitted by Damien Maia.

I’m a fan of both of these guys, but everything Sonnen is good at, Marquardt is just much better at. Marquardt is gonna get a TKO win here, then go on to get a rematch with Anderson Silva, and get his ass handed to him once again.

  • Chael Sonnen (10%, 1 Votes)

Matt ‘The Terror’ Serra vs Frank “The Fucking Cunt’ Trigg

I’m blinded by my hate for Frank Trigg on this one. Frank Trigg is a twat, and I enjoyed watching the replays of Josh Koscheck beating him like he stole something in his last UFC outing. When Trigg loses this fight, he’ll be given his marching papers, and will be back to appearing on small time shows, and TNA Wrestling.

Serra is most famous for his knockout win over GSP to capture the WW title back at UFC69, which will probably go down as 1 of the biggest upsets in MMA history. He got trounced in the rematch, and lost a split decision to Matt Hughes in his next outing.

Serra’s Jiu-Jitsu is amongst the best, so I can see him taking Trigg down, and hopefully, ripping the smug cunts arm off. Serra is a very short welterweight, and despite having great knockout power, he has the reach of a T-Rex, so would be best advised NOT to stand n trade with Trigg, and rely on his awesome ground game.

Serra by submission – in the 3rd

Paulo Thiago vs. Mike Swick

I’m really not too sure how this one will go down, so I’m taking a real punt on this.

Paulo Thiago’s last fight was a convincing unanimous decision win over a very game Jacob Volkmann, and before that, a unanimous decision loss to Jon Fitch at UFC 100. There’s no great shame in that, because Fitch beats EVERYONE by decision. Before that in his UFC debut, he shocked the world, with a flash KO via uppercut on Josh Koscheck

Mike Swick’s last fight was a one-sided decision loss to Dan Hardy, and before that, a TKO win over Ben Saunders.

Thiago is great on the ground, and lately, his striking has really tightened up. Swick is known for his knockout power, but is a tad inept on the ground. I think Thiago will be able to take Swick down, and put this baby to sleep.

Thiago by Submission

  • Mike Swick (44%, 4 Votes)

Damian Maia vs. Dan Miller

This fight has zero interest for me whatsoever. It just doesn’t excite me. Look for Maia to recover from his devastating KO loss to Marquardt with a submission win here

    Hmmmmm…

Marquardt is a huge favorite on betfair; the punters give him about 80% chance to win. Do you reckon it’s worth betting on it at those odds?

I’ve never understood why anyone would want an iPod, but I think I just figured it out. If I had an iPod Touch I could put the video of Anderson Silva deftly placing Forrest Griffin’s jaw roughly where is ear is supposed to be. Then I could carry it around, leave on the bedstand when asleep, keep it in my pocket and so forth and whenever I felt a wee bit depressed, or woke up from a nightmare, or something like that I could cheer myself up by watching it again.

I think Silva – Marquardt would be a really great fight.

I’m sure, if I read it, this would be even more boring than Penfold’s last piece on boxing (or whatever it is), but I didn’t read that either. Are you taking the piss, Penfers?

@ yp — I went to Funky Town last night, and even on a Sunday I saw more truly beautiful girls there than in the last 2 weeks crawling Bossy and Climax and…
But the place closed at 2h00. Where are those people going afterward? We went to Bossy… but surely saw none of them there…

Katechon – I was in the area at 4am and three very attractive girls were coming my way. One started talking to me and so I talked back a bit, and got some friendly chat going. Got names from all 3 but then one of the others was agitating to leave so I didn’t try to go any further. However all 3 were really hot. And it looked like they were just coming out of a club. So if someone can figure out what is right near Ekamai/Thonglor that opens that late, I’d be interested to know.

Actually had a bit of this conversation last week with a guy who lives right around the corner from Ekkamai on where he goes, and he said ‘scratch dog’ on sukhumvit soi 20(basement of Windsor hotel I think). He said people go there after ekkamai clubs shut down, along with girls from Cowboy but not in a ‘working’ sense. As reliable a lead as you’ll get, so give it a try and see what happens, but I think he mentioned it closing at 3am(I’d expect later than that though). Factor in buying drinks, or if you’re going alone or in a group, but he said he doesn’t go without picking up a girl for too long, take it for what it’s worth, you’re familiar with this town by now ;)

I actually did end up there myself one night after hanging with some friends at an ekkamai pub Nung Len, but I was so drunk that night and was promptly put in a cab home, and can’t report back on the types of girls there a year ago when I went…just one of my worst hangovers I’ve had over here. Hope that helps, report back your experiences please if you go, I may check it out again too as well.

Can also mention that there’s a pretty cool Thai afterhours place that I’ve been introduced to through these salon girls on my street I was hanging with the last month or so on or off(interesting stories there, and why do the salon girls always have such a close relationship to the bars(same same eh?) but I digress, I mentioned stories lol).

It’s upstairs above a thai restaurant on petchburi road at ekkamai, next to Evita Massage. It’s actually a really cool place, but majority Thai(i’ve even heard it referred to as Japanese but nah)so handle yourself accordingly and respectfully, it’s possible to meet girls there to but they may be with their Thai boyfriend, or finished work at the massage places, or whereever. Were groups of 4 girls alone and such frequently, usual tactics and drink buying questions might apply but just knock glasses and dance if everything seems safe, even knock glasses with the thai guys if applicable, be friendly.

Yesterday I was there and there were some way too young looking girls(with underage looking guys who were decent enough) I assumed were underage but it wasn’t like that the other times I’ve been there so don’t be scared. Give it a try for sure if you want something different, it’s safe and a nice change of pace I guarantee you!

My good friend has sworn to me lately that “normal” girls go to Spicy and he’s got a bunch this month, but he’s pretty drunk, crazy, and not picky. For me nothing great has ever really happened at Spicy and Swing, but it’s a bit of a crapshoot everywhere, can’t always assume you know the deal with the girl even in the most notorious area…been a few times where I assumed and was wrong, the lesson is just don’t assume out loud!

Boss club the last few weeks was great but destroyed my hearing last weekend, met one who wanted 1500 that lived close near me ironically, also one that wanted 3000 at Bed (than Climax), and one at Climax who used to “work” in Dubai, but wasnt’ overtly offering herself to me…when it’s so early in the morning and I’ve drunk so much I debate whether it’s worth paying for it even at a decent price, and I just refrain if possible ;)

    ‘Scratch dog’

I’ve been there also last week — huge place, nice deco. Very impressive entrance. It was still rocking when we left at 4h30 or so. And it was very packed. I have no idea about how it cost, however.

Lots of Thai people – I’d say 80% Thai/20% farang.

One caveat : I was with 2 girls. One of who had a very impressive pair it tits, that was bouncing all the times since she was dancing all the times, almost jumping. At one point, we moved to a cooler place, nearer an aircon apparatus. We settles at the table for 6, that was occupied by 2 thai guys, and one tha girl. The guys were very very friendly. Yet 5 minutes later, the girl assaulted midly Bouncing Tits. Her man calmed her down forcefully…. fortunately.

The music was as cheesy as, say, in Bossy or Climax. Not very good. But the girls love it, obviously, so I guess it doesn’t matter too much… :-)

About the lasses in ‘Scratch dog’

As I said, I was busy “taking care” of 2 girls, — I was in love for a coupla hours! — but I still can say that lots of attractive sluts flashed me hungry eyes.

I’d say it’s very easy to meet girls, there.

@yp and it can get pretty hot–as in sweat–if you don’t stand near an aircon device.

@Katecunt – Maybe im getting old, but I dont really do after hours any more

If I go to RCA or Ekkamai/Thong Lo, im usually fairly cunted by 2am, and slither home. I did get a taxi to SWING at 730am last week, and the place was still jumping.
I got accosted by a few grizzly trannies and bargirls, none of which grabbed my fancy. The sluttier looking girls all seemed to be occupied

    Now there’s a head scratcher.

“I don’t don’t really do afterhours any more.” “I did take a taxi at 7:30am to Swing”.

I guess if its after 7am its not really afterhours really and a start to a new day.

    Well played.

  23. Young Penfold says:

Bkk22 – Right on the money. 7am can be officially classed as a working day. Could call it ‘before hours’ or ‘during hours’

I always feel like a bit of a scumbag when Im still out on the tiles, while the normal, decent folk are going about there daily ‘bid-nis’

In the last month I have done afterhours twice. Well, actually once. I did the Swing run after a houseparty went late, and I also went to Spicy. After paying my 300baht entry to Spicy, I walked staright into the toilet to throw up. I strained so hard wretching my guts up, that I shat myself. Fudge everywhere. Walked straight back out and hailed a cab home. So that doesnt count.

It does count as the most expensive shit in BKK history. I usually begrudge paying the 2baht at MBK, but this was silly
