A plethora of puss…

Some of you may know what this photo is of if you spend a lot of time in lower suk – this is the soi 8 coffee shop. Seems it burnt down last night. The buildings next to it seem okay but not sure about smoke or water damage. The coffee shop is totally destroyed all the way up.
I am not sure what happened but I hope everyone is okay. This used to be my daily hangout joint until they started to systematically rid the place of customers who would hang out with their laptops.
Big crowd on soi 8 today checking the place out but I was not able to get any more info. If someone knows any details be sure to put them in the comments.
Once again I just hope no one was hurt.
Ever notice the Thai girl habit of lounging, watching TV and eating squiddies? Just like the current plastic surgery craze – it seems to come from Korea:
It is almost inconceivable that the two might mate with each other. Herbivore man is a dandy metrosexual with an abhorrence of martial arts. He has no qualms about ordering wine or soft drinks instead of Korea’s fiery spirits, de rigueur among the old guard. Dried-fish woman is an impeccably dressed model employee, but after work she just wants to lounge on the sofa in a track suit, watch television and munch on dried squid.
Finally some one who knows is taking a stand on the current media craze of labeling Thailand as dangerous and unsafe. I think it is mostly BS myself – so does Andrew Biggs:
It turns out last year five British tourists were murdered in Thailand out of a total of 12 foreigners. Of these dozen foreigners who lost their lives, the majority were shady Russian gangsters/sex tourists, so surely they don’t count. Whatever the total, when you compare it with the 18 million tourists who came to Thailand last year, a fact slowly emerges that is sure to unnerve even the most hysterical letters-to-the-editor writing westerner with too much time on his hands _ Thailand is a very safe country for tourists.
Of course this will just get worse when Reality TV comes to town and hangs with the knobheads down in Pattaya called the Tourist Police. My guess is this will create a very slanted view of Pattaya and the idiots who tend to frequent the place. Great:
Daniela Neumann, the director of programming for Virgin1, noted: “This show is a powerful reminder of the hidden dangers and high drama that happens in what is one of the U.K.’s favorite dream holiday hotspots. In a British first, Bravo cameras will allow viewers an unprecedented and hard hitting insight into the inner workings of the Thai authorities, the Brits that are working for them, and the harsh reality of breaking the law there.’
If you hate Google like I do you will love this new Onion video.
Malaysia starting to get a little freaky folks.
This whole thing with the Russian arms dealer is too weird. The Thais help catch the guy in a months long sting but then the courts let him go? After Hilary comes to town for some ass kissing it seems the timing of this is rather strange. My guess is this is not over yet but I am somewhat confused as to what the Thais were thinking:
The ruling is a major setback for the United States, which had been pursuing the former Soviet Air Force pilot for years and, observers say, could complicate relations between the United States and Thailand. The judge, in an earlier interview with The Nation of Bangkok, joked that if he ruled against the Americans, he might never get another visa to visit the US.
“We are disappointed and mystified by the court’s ruling,” James Entwistle, the deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Bangkok, told reporters. ‒We think the facts of the case are relevant to Thai laws.”
Red shirts are at it again but I think it is not working:
That’s the role courts play in functioning democracies and is likely why Thaksin’s petition for a pardon will fall on deaf royal ears.
This is then followed up by this which to me says a ton given the timing.
Airport getting a lot more attention now – not sure it means much but clearly the smear campaign is having an effect.
We always hear stories of the weird shit that goes on in Bangkok but I never hear about the stuff often portrayed in works of fiction when it comes to the seedier side of Thailand, but that has changed. Some dude was wrapped in C4 and blown to bits. Sick shit indeed:
Chon Buri – The torn-apart body of a German engineer was found in rubber plantation in Banglamung district here Friday morning, police said. Police said the remains of Uwe Keienburt, 45, who was an engineer of a real estate company, was found by a rubber tapper in the morning. Police said the bomb appeared to be C4 explosives tied to the body of the man, whose BMW car was found left about 500 away. Police said the killer used a remote control to detonate the bomb that torn his body into pieces.
Kidnapping, C4, remote detonators, and rubber tappers. Just need some snakes, black magic and a ladyboy and we got the next Bangkok 8 novel in the works.
Had another quick run to Bang Saen. Date #2 did not happen due to some scheduling confusion but I will keep on it. We happened to go down for a friend’s birthday and made a trip to the open zoo that is nearby. Good fun and met some BKk hi-so girls out for a trip. Then after dinner we headed out in Si Racha rather than Bang Saen.
The Si Racha scene is a little different with clusters of clubs, karaoke joints and coyote like bars. Rayong has a few pure coyote bars but I was not able to find the equivalent yet in Si Racha but I know they are there. The clubs are your standard Thai layout with a band and dance music when the band is not up. I think the clubs are better in Bang Saen due to it being a college town. More girls, better bands and a funkier vibe. Si Racha is more normal Thai style and is missing the uni town feel.
The one club we tried out, Gusto, is one of the more popular ones in Si Racha. It differs in that there is a bunch of coyote girls that dance and can sit with you on the clock. They were cute but not Bkk coyote hot but they were more friendly and easy to connect up with. My friend has already booked a hook up with one.
The karaoke joints warrant further investigation. They seem to be all over Si Racha. One drives up in front of one and you are practically accosted in your vehicle. I am sure the places are nothing special but they were full of cuties. Word is you get a room, take a few and let the booze flow. Rumors of nudity and afterskool like action abound. More on that later.
All in all these are fun cities to check out. 110 baht gets u there from Bkk. Everything is cheaper and the vibe is one I like to call “Farang Curious” – they are not all over you but they are curious and more easy going in a less battle hardened way. I think there are enough clubs to look into and the penguins abound.
Peace.
Party tonight – FYI.

Is this the pub called “Soi 8 at soi 8″???

I have spent lots of time in Sri Ratcha. I Had an Awesome Tiruk there for a while. Nice small town feel, a couple of stones throws from BKK. Although its right on the coast, There is no real beach to speak of. Mostly a rocky, and undeveloped coastline. The small island of Koh Sri Chaing is a 20 minute ride from the main pier. Sri Ratcha has a very nice park on the waterfront for hanging. There are a few nice Restaurants on the several piers just south of the downtown area. There is one strip of Local Beer Bar action right off the main drag of Sukhumvit road. If you see the Sri Ratcha City Hotel = your there. Although there are several other “Hot Spots” around the Main Sri Ratcha Mall. Lots of Karaoke shops all around.
Sri Ratcha is also known as Japanese town. As There are a plenty O Jap’s there. A Largo Condo right on the waterfront is 100% Japanese. Some of the Hi So Girls at the Karaoke joints might Gawk at some White Guys – but if you have game – You will do fine.
There is a decent night market, Lots of cheap food, a few mellow bars, a Disco, and some decent fun to be had. A small town, but somehow a cool place. And its just a bit over an hour from the Ekamai Bus Station.

SSB – Depends on Traffic. I have made it in a hour and 15 on a Sunday, other times – up to 2 hours.
Agree on the different feel of Bang Saen. Sri Ratcha has a more laid back Thai town feel, but with a bit of Japanese Locals mixed in. – Still some good fun to be had in Sri Ratcha City.

Gee, I get mad when I can’t get an internet connection, but not THAT mad…
110 baht to get to Sri Racha/Bang Saen? Is that rail or bus?

Oh, forgot to ask… are there gogos in either Sri Racha or Bang Saen?

I’ve read something about the Thais not wanting to upset the Russians by turning in the arms dealer, but then it seems that he is not really that known in Russia so it would not have been a big deal.
Malaysia caning – I think she picked the wrong spot to have a beer, in KL I’ve hung out with Malay girls who drank freely and were never carded in bars. That being said, the country has a weird vibe, I never really got into it – I like Indonesia much better and feel much more comfortable there, the occasional bombing notwithstanding.

I had an interesting past two days in Bang Saen with a few Thai friends. Ate dinners near the ocean at cool places to relax and listen to music. Alot of seafood but nothing to write home about.
Girl quality at Galaxy massage was disappointing so one beer and out. The Cafe next door has some hotties but don’t know the deal there. I think it one of those places where customers show how rich they are by buying “flowers” for a singer.
Both nights we headed to Sri Racha after midnight.
Gusto had an erotic show with 2 hot busty girls about 2 AM. The girls removed their tops revealing pasties. The place was packed with only Thais. Some nicely dressed girls enjoying themselves.
I chatted with two coyotes both very friendly and weren’t in a hurry to find a customer and drinks. I was curious to see if they just wanted someone to buy them a drink so I didn’t mention drinks and just chatted. Two sweethearts I can fall in love with.
My friends like Gusto because of the good vibe and closes at 6 AM. They mentioned not liking Bang Saen clubs because of the early closures, 2 and 3 AM.
Overall I like the Bang Saen area with its laid back feel and friendly people.

ssb, why on earth would someone ‘hate google’?

Jewish lightning ignighted it.

Katechon- Google hired ninja’s to attack my village when i was five years old. they came in the dead of night in multi-colored ninja pajamas. systematically raped and killed all our livestock and made the families line up outside our huts as they torched them with exploding sony laptop batteries. They then subjected my family to a marathon of lifetime original movies which caused everyone to commit suicide. since my chi is strong i was able to withstand the slaughter and since i was young they thought i would die on my own.
As the sun came up behind the smoke from the charred remains of the village i swore my revenge over the bodies of my family.
so i ask you katechon to think about this. is the true question how could anybody hate google? or should you be asking, How can anyone LOVE google?

ucw, i learned not long ago that i was conceived by a ninja rapist, who was part of one of the Google-sponsored mercenary teams that ravaged the east coast of Me-heee-co. My mother was a sheep.

bkkt – some of us who have been in companies competing with MSFT have a certain view of things – whether others buy into it or not
google is starting to employ the very same tactics on the internet
