Soapie crawl, Skymacking, and more scams!

Posted by sideshowBOB | Blog, Reader Submissions | Posted on July 5th, 2009

Well – of course I must begin this post to say thanks to all who attended last night’s party. It was rocking and we appreciate the support. We were rammed. Killer night all in all with the big feed, the sudden disappearance of 12 bottles of Jim Beam Black, the welcome sight of the Jim Beam girls and of course all the cool people who showed up to party. I think we got YP hammered for his birthday as well.

Props.

Stay tuned for next Saturday’s announcements.

It seems the airport Duty Free scam is real and needs some attention:

They were accused of taking a Givenchy wallet worth £121 from a King Power duty-free shop and were handed over to the police. An official release order from the local Thai prosecutor’s office subsequently conceded there was no evidence against them.

They were freed five days later after a frightening ordeal in which they said they were threatened and held against their will at a cheap motel on the airport perimeter until they had handed over the money.

The bribes were paid to an intermediary named Sunil ‒Tony” Rathnayaka, a Sri Lankan national in his fifties who works as a ‒volunteer” interpreter for Thailand’s tourist police (motto: ‒To serve and to protect”).

‒Our main motivation is to protect other innocent British tourists from being caught up in this nightmare,” said Ingram last week. ‒We intend to take every legal means to recover our money and obtain justice.”

As we have said many times before it is stuff like this that really hurts tourism and when the government spends silly money on consultants and ads that don’t work when they could just spend time to seriously fight the blatant corruption that hits the front line – the tourists. Also – how the hell did a Sri Lankan get involved in all this?

Good to see the Love Hotel biz is thriving in Japan – I wish there were more hotels offering a ST experience that had more of a concept in Bangkok but oh well – wishful thinking. Love the candidness from this dude though:

Though young couples make up the majority of customers, they are not the only ones. One man, who declined to be named, said: “I go to love hotels when I’m drunk and don’t feel like going home.”

Need further proof of how bad inbound arrivals have dropped off?

Asia is getting fatter. Even heard that there is a move for plus sizing in Thailand for women’s clothes. My only hope is maybe the recession will thin the ranks out a bit.

With Fender in town doing his best to kill me I have been to a G Club 3 times in the last week. Resort is still one of the top ones but I think it has come down a peg. They need more Coyote girls and they need less of the bands. I say this mostly due to my experience of hitting the Carib as of late. Tons more Coyote girls, more show and less band.

I have to admit though that Sky could be the best of them all when it comes to selection and playfulness. Problem with Sky is that the girls go fast. The last trip I was outgunned in my choice of 3 Coyote girls and gave up. However as I kept going to the hallway to answer the phone I had a nice, little hostess making eyes with me and I gave in. Good call. She played tonsil hockey with enough aggression that I was forced to cool her jets with my slippery finger games. It didn’t work – I think YP got the stink finger but I am sure he was too cunted to remember it. Looking around though at all my friends getting their fair share of ass grabs in I would have to give Sky an honorable mention. It is also cheaper than Carib and Resort.

Yes – digits were booked. Calls have been made and appointments are penciled in.

FYI – the late night hard rock band at Sky is the old band from Santika. Those guys push some good tunage.

Soapie Crawl. Been getting some ribbing from people about this since the goal of the crawl is not always to get some. Rather it is an endeavor in and of itself. Where else in the world can you cruise into a nice lounge, have cold cheap beers or cocktails, good food, aircon and a nice perv? I can’t think of any other place where this happens other than Bangkok. Within one MRT stop is a bunch of Soapies that you can walk to while getting a buzz and taking in literally hundreds of good looking, available, girls.

Living the dream.

So off we were the other day for an afternoon tour. First stop was Nataree. As anyone knows the individual mileage will vary with each experience but Nataree has enough of the elements to ensure a good time. A lobby stocked with a ton of girls that are close enough you can flirt with them – actually they flirt with you. Decent prices, decent food, decent beer and decent but not amazing rooms. For me, at this stage, Nataree is unbeatable.

Sit in the lobby long enough and you will see new girls come of the street and sign up for a job only to line up and get chosen moments later. They use a freelance model here and they make it so easy for the girls to work when they want that it is attracting lots of new, young talent. Hordes of them. Supposedly to ensure that all girls get work – the sideline or freelance girls are forced to go home after 3 rounds to make room for other girls. Either way the lobby experience of Nataree is one of a kind.

Colonze2 is done in my opinion. Stick a fork in it. They have very few girls, a pushy papasan who seems to think that every girl who just finished a session is the new “it” girl, and the place just feels tired. The rooms are cool and they push upgrade deals and supposedly the seaweed massage is awesome but I never see any girls worth taking. In fact on the last trip I saw the fattest, ugliest girl I have ever seen in a Soapie.

Colonze2 = over.

Popped in to the new Lord group joint. This place is huge. It is part Spa, short time hotel, lounge and soapie but I think most Farangs will have little interest. They have very few girls, the pricing is geared too high and the joint too sterile. One trip to Nataree exploits the difference. Maybe the Asians will dig this place but I see no reason to return unless you are hosting some business guests and you need to show them a top time.

Then headed over to Copa. First time in there for me. Impressive layout, multi floors and decent pricing. I just did not see anything that really jumped at me. The small lobby area downstairs is the spot to chill since you are close to the girls, see the bowl and see the video feed from upstairs. Still the lobby of Nataree has more action. I have head the service is always decent at Copa and people have talked highly of it but I have yet to dive in.

Then over to Caesar’s. For high priced sideliners this place can’t be beat. There was some stunners but you have to pick quick since they suddenly just evaporate from time to time. It seems the place hosts a lot of VIPs who park and go straight to a room. Then the girls are summoned enmasse for a private viewing. I have yet to pull here but someday as a treat I think a pricey sideliner will be in the cards.

Pulling was had at Nataree. Smiles all around.

More soon from BBB, Salty, and some discussion needs to be had around this “uni girl” thing.

The duty-free scam is real? As in they didn’t steal anything?

Kingpower have released CCTV footage here – http://www.kingpower.com/2009/popup/pop_case2.html

Evidence to back up the claim that Asian women are getting fatter is sadly more, er, solid. Go to Vietnam and come back here and you’ll get the same sort of “fat shock” that you (used to?) get when returning to the Western world from Thailand. There are an increasing number of fatties, especially among the young. And that’s not good for the future…

The worst part of that report you linked to was: “2.8% of Chinese males and 5% of females are obese; and no less than 16.1% of males and 37% OF FEMALES suffer from what is graciously defined as “abdominal obesity”‘

… so women are porking out a lot more than the men. There’s a gender imbalance in China that may be contributing to the women not trying as hard to keep themselves trim (like in the West, I’d say!) but I hope that too many Chinese men don’t start coming over to Thailand because of it!

b – the beauty of the blog is that guys like u will read the posts and contradict them if I am off. great stuff. Curious though that if that was real then why the shady payoffs or is it simply they are willing to get into a shady payoff deal cause they are guilty? strange stuff.

The people accused of shoplifting may be guilty but the way they were treated by the authorities is appalling.
The Thai Police are terrorizing them.
    Typical Thai scam.
Exploit the law for personal gains. Just like the cigarette butt cops or the cops fining bar owners for playing unlicensed CDs.

  5. Asia has always been fat. Not too many slim Indian wives, are there? Good call on Colonze 2. I left after the obnoxious papsan started quoting the wrong prices, and there was no talent. The new Lord group spa, near Colonze 2, is how I described it in my review. They only had 6 girls there and very expensive. Nice interior decorating though. Nataree is my favourite! I still say that for high end sideliners, Tarawadee resort and spa on Pattanakarn, soi 44-46, cannot be beat.I also find the fountain to be soothing for my soul.

In April of this year I was “arrested” for mouthing off at a pushy immigration officer. They drug me off to the very same police station, where I was offered assistance by this very same Sri Lankan guy (he cd be of some other south asian persuasion but is certainly not a local). I fortunately had other resources, but also in the wagon with me was a middle eastern guy accused of shoplifting from King Power (who was vehemently protesting his innocence) — he had no options and looked set to use the services of The Fixer. They were negotiating as I walked out. If I had not had a Thai person to bail me out, I fear I wd have been in the same situation as the others. (Foreigners aren’t allowed to post bail in Thailand.)

I see no reason to think this is limited to King Power shoplifting scams — perhaps the Sri Lankan was there to meet the King Power culprit, or perhaps he’s working this angle with anyone arrested at the airport(?). One thing’s for certain: The cops let him right back into the detention cells and left him alone with people to “work his magic.” If they aren’t actively involved, they are certainly turning a blind eye.

jj – agreed. if they stole then they are in trouble but could this be then since it is real they are just trying to buy their way out? buying your way out will always be shady indeed.

sg – india is a different beast entirely.

I need to try tarawadee but I always hear good things about it. how is the pricing?

rico – I think the thing I am trying to understand is if King Power is involved. When u look at the videos it looks to me like people are stealing. I cant speak to your case but I would be afraid to argue with an immigration officer in any country – even my own whether I was right or wrong. Sucks to feel that way but immigration scares me.

that aside all over asia people who get in trouble try to the normal ways to get out and then try the payout. Seems that is the case here unless there are setups going on just to lead to the payout. I assume you did not pay to get out since you had some help?

I had a horrifying 2 days in Tengah once when I stayed at a friend’s house and somehow was accused of being in the house with unmarried muslim females. I was not since the house I was staying at only had the parents of a friend – all the children were moved out so I could stay there. Seems some local cop was able to make an issue out of this. So I spent 2 days at a police station, not in a cell and they let me go home at night, arguing about this and the validity of my passport. Of course they would not call the US embassy to verify anything. I stood my ground, since I did nothing wrong, but eventually the family was forced to pay because they were being threatened by the people who set me up. I paid them back but was upset the locals won the round. Doing some research later I was told this little province is known for getting money out foreigners for stupid shit since there is no real tourism in the area. Not a region I will be going back to.

The airport just isn’t any fun anymore.

Once, back in the 80’s, a bunch of us were flying in on leave from Saudi Arabia. One of our group was too drunk to fill in his landing card, so we did it for him.

Of course, we filled in ‘cocksucker’ for occupation, ‘motherfucker’ for name, etc etc.

The Immigration people took him away but released him once he sobered up a bit.

Later at the hotel he was pissed off, but said Immigration thought it was pretty funny as well.

Of course, he had a story to tell for life.

u mean the whole ground floor of paragon which is basically one big bakery now (it’s fantastic !) is fattening ? who knew ?

question is , do thin girls cost more ?

i like the guy above who “argued” at immigration . that usually works .

and isn’t the presence of nonsensical “scams”, sometimes blessed by those in uniforms, and leaning how to avoid such, part of the “charm” of this place and why we’re (i anyway) addicted ?

Shame to hear about Colonze2 going to shit. I’ve been maybe 4 times and each time I got fucked senseless and left feeling that my 1900baht has been well spent. Having said that though, my last visit was 3-4 months back, and a lot can change in that time.

Nataree is awesome. Its almost laughable how many hot young sluts they can cram into the lobby. Granted, the papasans are gobby shitstains, the lobby is dingy like a students bedsit, and the rooms aren’t exactly high class, but that matters not when you have 70 racy harlots eyeing you up, begging to be drilled. At 2600-3200 a throw its also good value.

I was chatting to a mate of mine at the Mango party, and we both agreed that there is no point in wasting your time going anywhere else but Nataree

Fuck it, all this talk about soapies is getting me in the mood. Im gonna get on the MRT now

I hadn’t ever engaged at Nataree before; I’d stopped in a few times but wasn’t impressed with the talent. After reading some recent posts, I figured I’d give it another chance. Holy crap! Wall to wall cuties! The one I took was too young to really know what she was doing, but also so young that she knew she better let me put what I want where I want if she wants to make a career out of it. In other words, I hammered her ass. My penis is the hammer.

I’m going again right now; maybe I’ll bump into YP on his way out, & I can grab his girl for some sloppy seconds.

Flew solo at Sky last night. The place was empty. Well, except for all the cute pr girls and 30 smokin’ coyotes. Actually, though, it was a little disappointing, now that the coyotes all wear tights to stop the pervs from groping them. This meant I had to snake my finger past her shorts, tights, boy shorts, panties AND g-string before I could stick it in her butthole. That’s just too much work. G-clubs suck. Nobody go.

Great party on Saturday, guys! Thanks for helping
make my buddy’s first trip memorable. SSB, I don’t want to kill you; I’m just keeping you sharp! It’s tough love, but you’ll thank me some day.

Let’s see, what else happened recently worth mentioning?

jj – dont want to sensationalize here but mafia and police are not the same. I dont think someone just demanded 30k and got it. there has to be more. maybe a music license or some other small infraction ? being in the biz I put up with all this as well but there is always something that allows them to get something – fair or not.

I assume I know which place u are talking about since only one mex joint I know in bkk owned by a singaporean. the 30k price sounds like the music scam that has been going around.

anyway. not saying it did not happen but want to make it clear how this stuff does happen.

    @SSB – Asian Girls getting fat? Don’t I know it…;-)

Seriously, this is what happens when you build fast food restaurants everywhere. From my own admittedly limited observation over a 10 year period, Korean and Japanese Junior- and Senior-Highschoolers appeared to gain 5 centimeters on the waistline. No way of telling the cause, or if this is a nationwide trend or a trend focused on areas I frequented, but I noticed that it seemed to coincide with the construction of American fast food joints.

The duty free scam now on the BBC site. Somewhat late, but it led me to the King Power site, where the CCTV vid of the wallet incident is posted…

    http://www.kingpower.com/2009/popup/pop_case2.html

There does seem to be something fishy about the whole business. That said, no wallet was ever found. Of course they could have posted it in the airport.

You’d think that King Power would want to get properly to the bottom of this – whatever happened in this particular case, it’s gotta hurt their business.

And course the police handling of the business – whatever the truth – was handled as incompetently as always.

  22. Bangkok Bad Boy says:

That said, no wallet was ever found.

Hmm. From the PDF on the page you linked to:

As the Airport Tourist Police and our security personnel approached the female, the male got up from his table and left the restaurant. Our security staff followed him as he walked to a block of toilets on level two of the terminal building. Our security staff observed the stolen Givenchy wallet was abandoned in a bin in front of the toilet.

This little detail was not mentioned by the BBC! I notice the story was filed by Jonathan Head, so hardly surprising.

  23. sideshowBOB says:

That is my point with bringing up this story to begin with since I don’t get what is really going on. If it is simple theft then all King Power should have to do is report it and turn over evidence. They did and the evidence looks to me like they stole. That is it from King Power and I don’t think the should have to do anything else.

Now if the issue is the shadiness of the police then that is a problem but it is not King Power’s problem is it? If this is really theft and the gray area is what happens when one wants to pay to get out of it – well then tough shit.

If this is all a setup then another story entirely but it looked like theft to me.

    strange stuff…

What is the point of a girl wearing a short revealing skirt if she is going to wear socccer shorts under the skirt? This apparell is worn for modestys sake by some sportswomen but to see whores in Thailand wearing this sh!t is absurd. I complained to the boss and left.
