2 new reasons to love being in Thailand!

startrekparty.jpg

The first is obviously the Star Trek party tonight at the Mango. Whether it rains or not we will be here – partying like fools who truly believe that partying to some sort of sci-fi theme has to be better than no party at all. Decorations, uniforms and DocBond are ready to go.

Miss this bash at your own peril.

Some people email asking if the Bar is on Twitter – yes it is.

cpwboy.jpg

Yes – my camera phone sucks but I don’t care. It is the cheapest Nokia phone one can buy that still, with some hacking, syncs to my Mac. No flash and super fucking slow but hey – I won’t cry if I lose it or it breaks. Anyway. That is Cowboy – welcome to slow season folks. Painful isn’t it?

Fuck me if did not have one of the cheapest gorges of food the other night. I happened to be cruising home via Cowboy, I have no choice folks, and I noticed the little sign board outside the Cactus bar proclaiming a beef brisket sandwich with fixings for 150 baht. I was hungry. It was huge – made with homemade bread and served with a twice baked potato. Say what you will about the place as a go-go but when it comes to Cactus John and his food – my hats off to him. After I finish my chow, John comes over to send me home with a slice of banana meringue pie for 25 baht. Shit. Probably the tastiest slice of pie I have had in Thailand.

John – thanks for the unexpected meal, conversation and amazing slice.

I happened to be cruising Petch road the other day and greatly in need of a bathroom. Earlier I had cruised into the Soi 7 beer garden to see the sights. Frankly – more than a letdown. Full of some scary chicks and a lot of brooding dudes. Just don’t get it. I had some Thai food that only moments later seemed to want to escape my confinements.

But not to fear – I saw the big new pink building that is La Belle.

lbbath.jpg

La Belle is the newly remodeled Mona Lisa. It is very close to the MRT and makes for an easy trek. The Joint has been completely redone and is quite posh. That is the bathroom there on the left – very nice and comfy. I did cruise the girls and chatted with Mr. Ting – the papasan. He was not a friendly chap I must say. There is not really a fishbowl – more like a huge lounge area and seat for girls all around – however there were only 6 girls and he quoted them all at over 3k. I will pay for hotties but these looked like the same moody girls one would see behind glass for less than 2k. He got even more moody when I asked if they had a difference in pricing for Farang and he said no. The place is slick and I bet the rooms are cool. I will add this joint to my soapy crawl for next time. I like the open lounge concept since you can play eye games with the girls to see who is giving off a good “fuck me please” vibe.

After La Belle I popped back on the tube and over to Huai Khwang station – epicenter for all that is good in Ratchada. I headed over to Colonze 2 but hell – what did I see – a brand spanking fucking new Soapie.

And it is huge.

First Colonze 2. I usually like this place. It is small, decent pricing and there are some lookers but such was not the case this time. I feel for a papasan when he is put in the embarrassing situation of having no girls or none I am interested in. I don’t blame him for the traffic, rain and girls in the process of rubbing some cock. No biggie but I don’t like the blatant sales push when there is nothing to sell.

I waltzed in and there were 2 girls on the sideline. One looked like she had seen the “I want to look like a Korean model” doctor more times than BBB has left a deposit at the Star of Light. No thanks. Then other looked more like a man than a girl. No thanks again. So I ordered a coke and told him I would chill. For me a soapie is about chilling and grabbing if I feel that vibe. Many times I leave without a purchase. No big.

This dork was bringing over every girl as she came back from getting love handled. No thanks. I go to soapies when the girls are on the way in – not on the way out. So this guy had nothing for me but rather than chill he kept pushing. I left. Loser.

lorddoor.jpglordlot.jpgSo I headed back down and into the NEW Lord Palace. 15 days old and could be the biggest one yet. It seems to also double as a posh short time place as well. The layout is different with no real bowl and lounge areas with girls sitting around. I like the vibe but there was not enough girls and a very Asian vibe. Prices were all over 2k and there was a different feel about the place – high end.

oldsoapie.jpgFor me I am just thrilled that soapies are still coming on. This is awesome. To left is a building that was suppose to be a soapie a few years back but is now a small hotel. We don’t need more hotels – we need more soapies.

The Lord Group is known for also doing the proper lino slipe-n-slide soapies and equal pricing. I am a huge fan of Victoria and generally have always had good service so I will be back to check the Palace at another time indeed.

I continued my crawl at Nataree massage. I have popped in here a few times on a tour but not for pulling. This place is old and could use a fresh coat of paint and new aircons but the layout of the lounge and the amount of girls is awesome. I love shooting the gauntlet on my way to sitting down and perving. There are so many sideline girls and you sit so close to them. This part I love because you can chat them up, look them over and get a sense of who might be a good choice. I was picked this time and it worked out fine. Awesome stuff. Something about this place that works and makes it a little more fun than the point and shoot model of most fishbowls.

Live Long and Prosper…

Afraid I can’t be there tonight as I’m, uh, in another country, but have FUN!

Interesting that they’re building new soapies, and thanks for the field report, SSB. Swank/flash is all fine, but I still like CP2 for its faded NON-retro-but-genuine 70s decor, no-BS pricing, and consistently good service. Choice of girls there, as everywhere in BKK, is mercurial…as you noted.

Just wanted to thank everyone for commenting on the crap i’ve submitted. Its nice to know there are some genuine people in Thailand. Wish my brother I could be there for the party tonight. I was kinda hoping to meet some of ya’s.

Its a piss off that we can’t meet some of the faces with the same mentality as ours. Christ, the other day we we’re in there and ordered 3 burger’s. I’ll admit your burgers at the Mango kick ass. I a burger whore and even in canada they don’t come close to what you guy’s put together between those two buns of yours.

Also, who ever it was that put on the video of the bike’s and boarding stunts. Good choice. After watching some one land on their balls my burger came back up. :)

Okay, again… we’ll be back in BKK soon and hittin’ Mango again.

SMALL REPORT: Right now I’m visiting with friends on samui and they own business’s and its hurtin’ over here big time.

… On another note… there’s hardly any talent on the island either. Its fucking scary. Seems most of the hot girls took off to Patt’s or BKK.

    Sad…. oh so sad.

2 new things to love about Thailand – for me it is never about soapies – usually food – so finding Famous Amos Chocolate Chip cookies with Pecans and Cinnamon Granola bars yesterday in Villa on Soi 11 was a red letter day for me. There was also of course the two 18-year old girls out looking for their first Falang customer last night on Soi 4 accompanied by a mamasan with no teeth to translate for them. But her English seemed to consist of “you like” and “go” so another fl came over to help out. It was the usual too big scenario but for once I think they were telling the truth because with all the pushing and prodding I gave it I could not break into the house of love of one and the other looked to be in major discomfort so I gave her a break and stopped. Stll a happy ending came about for one and all. Cookies and Granola bars vs two 18-year olds – not sure – its a toss up which made the day more special for me.

    Nice thread SB.
    My 3 reasons would be:
    1) My beautiful 16 month old daughter.
    2) TG’s/ BG’s & FL’s.
    3) Thai food especially deep fried fish, Morning Glory (stir fried), Massaman and Tom Ka Gai.
Yea sure there are many other things i love about the country.

@ CB, I was sadden to read the Samui is drying up. Last there about 9 months ago and had a great time as always, however, i have always thought that the BG scene could be much better, i know the place isn’t exactly bkk and Nana, but, it’s one of the more prominant islands after Phuket.
Strolling around the Green Mango and neighbouring bars can sometimes be quite disappointing.
By the way CB, do you know any decent soapies or Massage shops on Samui that are worth a visit? Plus any particular girls – BG or other that i should hook up with?

You can look for me at cafe called Awesome Coffee Shop. Kinda behind Green Mango in the back soi.

Pop in and ask for me if your around. My friend here who owns the cafe and she pretty much knows most of the girls here considering most of the bg/ fl live right across from the cafe in a complex. They always pop into her shop now and then.

As for soapies i haven’t really ventured down that path on this island yet. I know some good massage parlors with happy endings.

Like i said, pop in there’s a bunch of us here.

Because of lack lustre experiences so far at soapies have been put off but this kind of post gets my interest going again.

Would someone kindly let me know what a ‘twice baked spud’ is?
(I know im gonna get the piss ripped outta me on this question but i’ve never heard of this term)

@ CB, That’s very kind of you, yea i’m heading to Samui in a few months and will pop in and ask for you. I must admit i haven’t explored the P4P scene on Samui at all.
The only place i have been for Thai massages is at the Health Oasis Resort at Bang Po just before Nathon. Yea i know it’s not cheap but, i know i’ll get a decent Thai massage, i also know a few of the massage practitioners.
Have spent a lot of time there over the last few years, my friend managed the resort for a year until a few months back when the owner really shafted him financially.
Also i’m itching to visit Tropical Murphys on a Tuesday night to see my favourite Thai rock band, the lead singer is only a little fella but has got a bloody good voice, and belts out all the old and new favourites without sounding like one of those typical cheesey Thai bands you get in some hotels in Issan lol.

    twice-baked spud
    Ingredients:
    2 large baking potatoes
    1 cup chopped peeled parsnips
    1 garlic clove, peeled
    2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
    2 tablespoons buttermilk
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    Pinch pepper
    Dash hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
    1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
    1/8 teaspoon paprika
    Directions:
Bake potatoes at 375° for 1 hour or until tender. Allow to cool. Place parsnips and garlic in a small saucepan; cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until tender. Drain and mash.
Cut a thin slice off the top of each potato; discard. Scoop out the pulp, leaving a thin shell. In a bowl, mash potato pulp with parsnips and garlic. Beat in next five ingredients, using a hand mixer.
Stir in green onions. Spoon into the potato shells. Combine the Parmesan cheese and paprika; sprinkle over top. Place on a baking sheet. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 20-30 minutes or until heated through. Yield: 2 servings.

seems that was just a matter of time. if you claim to not censor anything, regardless of subject matter, and stick to your guns, then someone who might not be a big fan of bbk (i understand that there may be some such people) could post something nasty about team yellow and watch with glee as the thai censors eventually do their good work. not that i’d advocate such a thing mind you.

  20. Jack the Bat says:

Bakin’ the spud…sounds kinda like some dodgy slang term, does it not?

I was in Poland earlier this month (I have relatives there, and I kinda like the place…I seldom leave Asia but Poland is one of the few countries I’ll go to voluntarily). I’ve largely detoxed from Whiskey Tango appeal (talk’n about white chicks here) but it’s a different story in Eastern Europe. Check out Prague or Krakow: the phenotype is subtly different, but it’s a BIG difference, if that makes sense. We’re not talking your Soi 3 Uzbek skanks here…I wanted to kidnap the receptionist at my hotel in Lublin and bring her back to Asia.

Anyway, we stopped in a spud-centic eatery in Gdansk, so I thought I’d expand on the “twice-baked” theme as Eddie T asked about it. The recipe is specific but the idea is not: you bake the potato until it’s cooked through, cool it down, then open it up and add stuff. You can get medieval-on-its-spud-ass and scoop out the cooked potato, mix it with whatever and put in back in the potato-skin, then re-bake, as the recipe suggests. Or you can just split it open and dump stuff on top, warm it up a bit in the oven and serve. Either way, it’s twice-baked.

What brings this to mind is that these particular spuds were the size of small grapefruits. Once they’d been smacked up with extras (I had bacon…big chunks of primo Polish bacon, mind you, not some Wisconsin-salad-bar crumbles…cheese and great garlic sauce, etc, on mine) they were humonstrous. No banana meringue pie need apply: you may look good, cutie, but you ain’t comin’ in.

Just wanted to throw that out there. All this talk of spud action makes me wish I was sitting on my couch slurping San Fran Mission District carnitas tacos while the juice runs down my chin and that Lublin receptionist tenderly hoovers my chorizo.

Im all for it. You know where to find me… Awesome Cafe.

Make note: I’m heading back to Patts on Wed or Thursday and then BKK Sat to the 26th. Then back in Samui.

BTW: I’m gonna do up a report for Patts… an’ all i gotta say is nothing but aggressive talent. Place is littered with tang!!

As for Samui, last night being a saturday night wow… it was dead. Sad to see cause last summer this place was a fucking mad house of talent. But then again around 3am it was like a plane flew over Sound Club and did an air-drop of hot chicks.

  36. Bangkok Bad Boy says:

@ghost: Let’s nip this one in the bud. There is (and has been for a long time) a sidebar on every page of this website showing which pages are the most popular.

It’s called Popular Pages Today, and it’s just under the search box, towards the top-right of every page.

You’ll notice that it shows the 10 most viewed pages on the site at this given moment in time, including their readership as a percentage of total page views.

You’ll also notice that it doesn’t contain a single BBK article, even though the article in 10th place only accounts for less than 1% of traffic.

BBK’s later articles certainly received more comments than most authors do. But generating 100+ comments per article isn’t necessarily a good thing, if the majority of them are from people explaining why your article is wrong.
