Western Union – your invisible wingman…

Ever seen Top Gun, Magnolia – ever read The Game – know what a PUA is? In the normal world these are very handy reference guides to getting chicks, but remember we are in Thailand and this is the Twilight Zone so you may never need to know all the tricks from The Game but it is a fun ready anyway.

All over the world on any given day some guy is standing at the Western Union counter sending money, in whatever currency, to his girlfriend in Thailand. This may be one of his many girlfriends, could be his future wife or may just be his side salad when he comes to Bangkok for a little partying. Either way he sends money to his girl so she can go to school, stop working at a bar or maybe he is just supplementing her income a bit.

Many guys come to Thailand, meet a girl, fall in love and then when they go back home they start sending money to the girl to help her out and hope that she no longer works the bar anymore. I won’t go into this much but many girls still work at the bar when their boyfriends are not in town but this is not our problem. Some guys are able to come to town as much as once a month and keep an eye on their girl but other guys maybe only get back to Thailand and their girlfriend a few times a year. This can present a problem(for the out of town boyfriend – not us) of sorts given that at the end of the day Thai girls are social creatures, don’t like to stay alone all the time and yes – still get horny even though their boyfriends are not in town.

Here in lies the oppurtunity for those willing to dig a little. Western Union can be your invisible wingman. I generally find you have to go the clubs or the after hours places to find your perfect hook-up. The perfect hook-up is a lonely Thai girl who is getting support from her overseas boyfriend, likes to party from time to time, and is not looking to pull a switch. Let me be clear here, some girls are out trying to hook up to see if they can trade up (more $) or go down (younger dude – to get both is a jackpot). Meaning they don’t really like their current boyfriend but since he is paying the bills they are willing to put up with it until they can find a suitable replacement. Unless you are looking for a girlfriend this is not what you are after since you will have to become the new money train.

Keep in mind that these are not only bar girls but uni girls, office girls and so on. I tend to find that these girls are out looking to connect like any other girl so it is not like they are hiding out but they may be a little less forward than most. For instance – if soon after you exchange names, countries of origin and age – she starts to put her toungue down your throat then she is probably not your WU(Western Union) babe. A WU babe has to protect her situation so she is not going to come on too strong at the club but will most likely chat with u, dance and allow you to buy some drinks. Then later, as the night progresses, you can start to dig a little to see what she is all about and even just ask if she has a boyfriend or not. The goal is for her to say yes I have but don’t worry he is not in town and I wanted to go party with my friends. There you go.

From here you will just have to keep digging to see where it can all go. Chances are she will want to move on to another party place thus getting away from her friends and allowing the exploration to continue in a new venue. Perfect. Just keep it going since as the drinks keep flowing she will start to loosen up a bit and chances are explain what her situation is. What you want to hear at one point is that she has a steady, he supports her well but he is not in town enough and sometimes her bed is somewhat lonely. Be cool. Give her some space and say you understand and that you are just looking to party. From here is can go many ways. To your apartment, a short time hotel or maybe just a night of partying but when you part ways feel free to offer your phone number. Keep working it up until you have the talk – where she says that she would like to see you sometimes when her boyfriend is not in town but that she cannot see u too much. Okay. Go with it. One of the better deals in town is the way I see it.
