Shirt Voting!
Posted by admin | Big Mango Bar, Posts | Posted on June 24th, 2009
Okay folks. We are still on the drawing board with the shirts and figured we would put the options to a vote.
Granted in a perfect world we could accommodate multiple versions but it makes getting them made more expensive and well – simple is better.
Keep in mind that if you want to be on the list for the shirts you have to email. Comments won’t do. If you have already emailed you DO NOT need to email again. We are ordering a limited quantity so those who have emailed get first dibs and after that folks at the party can pick one up as well.
Here are the choices -
A:
B:
C:
Poll:
Pick your favorite shirt
- B (42%, 77 Votes)
- C (35%, 65 Votes)
- A (23%, 43 Votes)
Total Voters: 185

C is funny, but I don’t see being able to wear the shirt many places with that on it.

Order by email? Without even knowing the price? Does anybody really do that? Just asking.

If you gotta ask for the price you can’t afford it.
to people back home short time can mean anything, unless they were in the navy.

I’m with PG. Funny. Very funny. But you might as well put “Hey, I f*** whores” on it.

jonny – one would assume that. well never mind.
we are gauging the demand and that will set the pricing to some extent. expect around 300 baht or so. quality t – good color.
bb – if u happen to walk down soi 4, 23 or 7/1 or have ventured into q bar then people already assume u do. this is just the icing on the cake.
hence the voting so we can decide on the way forward

i like C, but i think you should really consider removing the text from below the graphic.

To be completely honest, i wouldn’t be seen dead in any of these T-shirts.
Even without the sleazy ‘short-time’ reference in option C, this shirt will just mark you out as another farang who likes to hang out in Nana soi 4. Not a great look.
Still, I suppose it will go down well with the Beer Sing vest and ‘Good guys go to heaven, bad guys go to Pattaya’ t-shirt wearing crowd.
Just one man’s opinion. Feel free to bash on me now…

Oh, pa-leeze…black is so ‘yesterday’

Gotta Go with A – just seems straight to the point. C seems a bit sleazy, My Tilac would never let me wear it.

On Second Thought – I like B better. The Mango logo on the front is cool. So change my vote to B

mryth – thanks for the feedback
maneyes – this is not the bashing site so not sure what u think but thanks for comments. not liking any of them means u are not into it. cool. are other shirts sold quite nicely thanks.
cb – yeah white is better to show off the bkk sweat rings.
rr – thanks

SSB Voted for B, but still think my suggested design was the way to go!

Is there an option D?
Front: Small “Big Mango Bar” text in the upper left-hand portion of the shirt. (Normally the place where pockets are located)
Back: Big Mango logo and “the first annual of the second coming” without the date and web address.
IMO, the date is unecessary and the web address makes it look like a walking billboard.

Damn, there are three options vice the original one design that was originally proposed. The Mango leadership listened to some of the suggestions and made some changes and tweaks in an attempt to please as many of their customers as possible, at least that’s my perception. I think suggestion time is over or the shirts will never be produced. There’s a famous saying that perhaps merits some of you to become familiar with ‘you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time’
Moonman, these shirts are advertisements for the establishment so the website address is appropriate IMHO. The more people that know and patronize the TBM the better IMHO. I’ve made a few friends that were visiting the Mango because they somehow heard about the bar via the internet, if I can spread the gospel so to speak, I’m all for it. If I can meet more like minded individuals next time I’m in town I’m all for it. The Mango IMHO has a good mix of interesting and nice people to shoot the shit with.
I’m with Radicalron on this one, I like the “shortime” saying, but my Tilac would probably castrate me in my sleep for wearing that. So my vote will go for one of the other two.

i’m with C all the way. i wouldnt wear it much in BKK but the strange looks anywhere else would be fun. Just one white heffer coming up to bitch about it would make it worthwhile!

r – yeah. I am sure people would have modified that one too.
mm – I guess the date is kind of fun since it is a big deal given our history. we always put the URL on things cause the net is a big piece of our success.
q – sure. as soon as it goes to committee I knew it would be somewhat hopeless to get consensus but I think it is helping to get some basic feedback.
d – the shock value of it was kind of the point or the i have no idea what they are talking about. both good responses.

A is the winner. I think dropping the www would be good as it would be less cluttered and it is assumed anyway with the .com at the end.

bb – a is not winning vote wise but I get u on the www

The Logo in Thai Script is good. Nice work.
How about a shirt with double pricing?….the Thai price in Thai Script.
I’d like to see a T shirt with just a small logo on the pocket.
No text.
The short time comment T shirt might be a big seller to the hooligans wearing the “Good Guys Go To Pattaya……shirts.

“good guys go to pattaya”? hmmm, place must have changed since my last visit.

Having the bar logo in Thai is a bad idea.
Even if you wrote it in kar-a-ok-e Thai, how many of your target audience are gonna understand ‘Mar-Mooang Yai Pub’? Not many Im guessing.
The Jack Dawson quote is about as funny as his blog. Harsh but true.
Have the logo on the front in English, and the date on the back
The shirt should be skintight, accompanied by a studded leather belt, which is keeping up a pair of dirty, 2nd hand Levis from JJ market, and a filthy pair of baseball shoes. Just my 50 satang worth. Im a fashionista. Trust me

Why black, white good option. Mango logo on left breast / on back Mango as is except all the anniversary shit & web details, all has to be in Thai, really cool. Need XXXL and I’ll buy 2 white in 3 weeks.

Well, there certainly isn’t any lacking of opinions among this cast of characters! As expected…
I like the double pricing suggestion! Charge the Thai’s twice the farang price and then step back and watch the shit storm that develops! LOL!

@PG Try ‘Googling’ it.

Boom in short-time working is protectionism by stealth. Is short-time working yet another form of state aid to which the EU is turning a blind eye? Or just a quick-fix panacea before mass joblessness kicks in?
You are only as good as your last ‘short time’

YP skin tight with studs may be fine for you, but for us short fat guys it just doesn’t go to well. I’m a “A” man how many folks read Thai, that come to the bar? Come boys business is business, Thai ain’t business.

A bit off the subject but this font is cool.
Looks like Thai script.

You might consider this script for the next shirt.

@ Young Penfold – The Thai script dosn’t say ‘Mar-Mooang Yai Pub’, it reads as ‘der bik maengorr baa’

man -thanks for the assist. did not want to correct YP’s thai yet again.

‘C’ all the way, change it to ST if you want to forever pretend to be an undiscovered intellect or you don’t have sex with hookers for money but it’s the most attention grabbing and sanook/fun, probably drop the quotations and name as it will only confuse people or possibly legitimise the saying….

C is the best shirt, hands down. I’d be proud as hell to wear that here in Thailand or when I’m visiting back in the USA!
