Im picking Manny to take this. Being English, and a huge Ricky fan Im hoping Hatton kicks Mannys ass like he touched his mothers cunt or something rude, but I cant see it.
How about barfining a load of slags, throwing gloves on them and getting them to slug it out on the 2nd floor? You can get on some Jean Claude Van Damme/Kickoxer shit, and wrap their hands in bandages, glue and broken glass.

YP… is that a ‘scouser’ theme?

I’m probably the only non-Filipino Mancunian cheering for Pacman but what can I say, I like the guy.
With Floyd Snr in his corner Ricky stands a much better chance than he would have done otherwise, but that chance is still slimmer than Ivan Calderon after a double dose of pre-weigh in laxatives.
Ten chances to one Ricky will start out sticking to Floyd snr’s plan, then get frustrated and start brawling, trying to land that right hook to the body. Meanwhile, Pac keeps punishing him with that straight left/right hook combo, dancing in, then out.
Either way it’s a great fight. I can’t wait.

pacman in 6. i doubt hatton can understand what floyd sr. is talking about half the time. Hatton won’t be able to match pacquiao’s work rate and it’ll start to show early. knockout. game over.
do you have tivo? 9am is too damned early

I’ll Take Pac-Man in 7. He is WAY TOO FAST for Lil Ricky.

What TV channel is the fight on? It’s not listed in the True TV guide. Does that mean it’s on Super Sports (which I don’t get)? I was planning on watching it in bed with the Saturday-nighter.
View all comments by Poodle
manny will take it. no doubt
pood – its only on pay per view or bootleg sat
View all comments by sideshowBOB
Okay, now I see it’s on True Sport 5. But there is something about 300 batty boys in the Thai blurb. So i guess that’s the PPV charge. We’ll see what crops up tonight. I was looking forward to fondling a young spinner in bed whilst watching two sweaty guys punch the shit out of each other. Although 300 baht is three drinks … hard choices in Bangers.
I wouldn’t totally rule out Fatton, odds are against him but … nar, Pacman, anyone who’s local nickname is National Fist gets my bet.

Ive just bet 1000 bt at 1:2 on Pacquiao winning it…
go, boy go!
View all comments by Katechon
It’s actually on free – not PPV for my subscription. All that time paying for Korean soaps and badly censored movies – at least now i get something I want to watch. So in bed we stay.

pood – interesting since it is still listed as PPV
I would not be surprised if it stays on until the main event and then if u don’t pay u don’t get the main event

I think Hatton will be sacking his trainer after this fight?
View all comments by Daywalker
I think hatton needs to stand down. its over
the trainer should be fired
but this is just a larger metaphor for the current state of asia versus the western world…
damn – that looked like it hurt…

“The victor’s trainer Freddy Roach: “Every time Ricky throws a punch he cocks it and leaves himself wide open: we worked on that in the gym – and it worked beautiful tonight”
- You’d have thought Hattons corner would have worked on that also?
Poor little Ginga.

rumor was yesterday that hatton was frustrated with the new training and wanted to fight his old way – which was to leave his face wide open for someone to hit it.
manny did. fuck.
hatton will retire now if he is smart.
the trainer should go back to being a couch potato
View all comments by sideshowBOB
Team Hatton could argue that 2 defeats in the whole career does not mean the only option is to retire. Hatton must have ‘something’ to get where he did. Whether its worth the effort to get back there? Who knows. But I think they’ll put this down to the trainer. Blame him. Sack him, whatever. The Hatton fans will say that the trainer lost him his fight. And what I saw, well, he does have a lot to answer for!

Mayweather Sr. is an unbearable prick.
I watched a hype/countdown show to the fight which showed both of the training camps, and I just wanted to smash Mayweather in his smug, fucking face.
The brutha is about 109 years old, he recycles the same old tired raps/rhymes in his interviews over and over, and dresses like a budget snoop dog/huggy bear. Just seemed to me that he was all about the glamour and limelight, and training Hatton was secondary
It showed the Manny/Roach camp, and they were all business. Roach had to bring in some extra help because hes got early stages of Parkinsons (I think) but they certainly got the job done. ROach also trains my favourite MMA fighter and big man-crush, Andrei Arlovski, and his boxing improved 10-fold in his last fight (despite him getting KTFO)
Bit embarrassed that Hatton didnt even see out the 2nd round though

dw – not bashing here but hatton was already talking about hanging it up. I think his issue was NOT listening to the trainer who said to cover up rather than brawl. had hatton covered his noggin it might have been a fight worth watching.
who would hatton fight now? best to go out on a semi-top before any more blunders like today
bottom line is the hatton team talked a big talk. I never respect that especially when they got PUMMELED
yp – who was the big dude who walked in with manny? is he the MMA guy.
going to cruise soi 4 looking for someone to punch. lots of stunned brits walking around
View all comments by sideshowBOB
@SSB I woke up about 11:15am today and missed the whole thing. Andrei Arlovski is a 6’3 menacing Belarussian dude who looks a lot like Leonidis from the film 300. If it was a huge black dude, that would be the former HW champ Roach brought in to help him out, whos name escapes me
Agree with you about retiring on a semi-high. Despite the fashion in which he lost today, his last 2 loses came against Manny and Floyd which is nothing to be ashamed of. I’ve seen plenty of times in MMA/UFC fighters hang around way past their prime, taint their legacy, and also risk getting hurt in the long run
If he retires now, he can swim in a fucking dirty great big pile of 50pound notes, keep himself busy as a trainer, and look back on a great career. I dont think anyone right now is interested in seeing him get a rematch with either guys, so I see the only way his career is gonna go, is down.

wasn’t the assistan michael moorer??
i gave Hatton too much credit. i really thought he’d be able to hang around a bit longer with the outcome being the same. mayweather is shit as a trainer. he sould go back to committing armed robberies and begging his son for money.

ssB wasn’t startin… was just saying what the Hatton fans will say. Personally I’m not a Hatton fan. He’s more a bruiser than a boxer. Shame… it looked so one sided.
Who could Hatton fight next? Hmm… BBB might be up for it?

dw – point is when someone trash talks like this they best not be knocked out cold in the second round:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/boxingandmma/5197292/Ricky-Hatton-Manny-Pacquiao-there-to-be-hit.html
Hatton said: “Manny fights the same way all the time. He’s effective at what he does but he’s not a versatile fighter.
“He’s never met a man as fiery, ferocious or rough as me – and certainly not as big and strong.
“I don’t think Manny is the most elusive. He comes very square-on and he’s there to be hit. And if he gets hit he’s going to get hit by the biggest man he’s ever faced. It will be a very explosive fight.”
I think hatton meant to say implosive and he was talking about his career…

ssB: I have the gold subscription to True Vision and the fight was free (also get all the EPL games). It was PPV for cheaper packages and for people who get their cable via their apartment.
Although it’s always more fun watching sports in a pub – just not at 10am on a sunday morning!

Hatton might retire but fighters retire all the time, and then someone waves some cash around and hey presto they come out of retirement for ‘one more fight’.
I saw somewhere where Hitman Hearns was coming back for a fight…
Look at Holyfield…he’s still going.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a shit matchup or not, as long as there’s a fight, someone will pay to watch.

Re: Moorer
“Mayweather Sr is battling an incurable lung disease while Roach, who already relies heavily on his assistant Michael Moorer, is slowly succumbing to Parkinson’s. As a result, both men already have one eye on their legacies.”
Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach said
“‘Hitman’ is an accurate ring name for Hatton because on May 2, Hatton is going to get hit, man, and a lot! I told Manny I would be disappointed if the fight lasts longer than three rounds.”

Question is: Is there anybody who could make a go of it with Pac Man?
I dont see Pretty Boy Floyd getting in the ring with him.

What about the 3 guys that already beat him?

Already an x-vid of the fight on thepiratebay. Should take about as long to download as the fight itself.

DW: My Belief is that those fights were a different breed of the Pac Man we now see. All 3 of those losses came at questionable decisions. We all know and have witnessed Boxing Judges getting massaged by the likes of Don King – and other shady promoters. I think the Pac Man knows this, and is just on a rampage to KO all who come his way. I would bet Top Dollars, Pac Man would love to have a go at those who “Supposedly” beat him in the ring so many moons ago.
Seeing how he walked through De Lahoya and Hatton, The next fresh meat should be an interesting watch. And I don’t think Pretty Boy Floyd will be it!

Just caught the WHOLE 6minutes of the fight on youtube.
The Hitman got dropped like a sack of shit. Was kinda painful to watch.
Id like to see Manny dip his toe into MMA/UFC. The thought of him with 4oz gloves instead of those 16oz pillows is a scary thought

I just bought one of them Ricky Hatton toasters.
It’s shit though, won’t even do 2 rounds.
View all comments by Daywalker
I was at the fight…. it was amazing to see all the Brits chanting then it was utter silence from them as lil Ricky hit the canvas. They were just stunned, it was a fun night. I do have to report though they were not sore losers, they were like ok our guy got beat… time to party!!! and they did just that.. it was a great time for all.
I have seen Manny a few times, he is a monster. The only other fighter that gave him problems was Juan Manuel Marquez, who until just last year never got any credit for being a good fighter. JM is going to fight Mayweather but he has to go up so many divisions from his normal weightclass that he will look shitty. He is not a big guy as it is… so like Mayweather always does he picks the easy path.
If Manny fights like at 145, the exciting good fighters that can come down are Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Julio Cesar Chavez.
Cotto’s chin is sometimes suspect but has strong hands, fast, and an aggressive fighter.
Mosley’s has a great chin, never has been knocked out but is pushing 38 yrs old, his speed has slowed over the years, in his prime this would have been the best fight. His losses are due to style match ups. He Beat De La Hoya 2 times at his prime. It would be fun to watch Pac Man fight someone with a solid chin.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (son of Sr)… this would be a tuff fight, he is a young kid with power, speed, and is 6’0 tall. His lanky body would give Pac-Man problems, since speed is prob even. But Chavez Jr. is an unproven quality since he is being brought up slowly.. not sure his skill set is ready even at 39-0.
In all there is lots of fun to be had and boxing is exciting at these weight classes.

All in all though Boxing has slipped imho. This was one of the better/bigger fights of the year and overall it didn’t touch a good UFC card. The Undercard was boring and then we had a 2-round fight. Doesn’t even compare anymore to UFC or even WEC and K1. Just throwing that out there. Boxing is not dead but it’s no longer the tops.
View all comments by pmmp
agreed the undercard was a boring sack of shit.
anymore though it seems fighters are so miss matched – I mean let’s face it. Hatton was no more ready for that fight than YP would be. HE was SLAUGHTERED. He should hang it up just out of respect for how embarrassing it must have been. an 8 round fight with both of them cut would be more fun.

Pacquiao’s first 2 losses (very early in his career)came by knockout from body shots. These losses were attributed to the fact that Manny was then growing fast and had to drain himself to make weight, thus the weakened body. The first lost was to a fellow Filipino fighter and the 2nd was to a Thai fighter. The 2nd loss happened in his defense of the flyweight title, wherein Manny already lost the title even before the fight began due to not making weight. For financial reasons, it does not make sense for Manny to fight these two again as they are virtually unknowns. I am not even sure if they are still active boxers.
The 3rd loss was handed by Erik “El Terible” Morales via UD. However, Manny gave Morales a beating in their next 2 matches. In the 2nd meeting, Manny won via an 11th round TKO and a 3rd round TKO in the 3rd meeting. Manny was the first to knockout Morales who is known to have a granite chin. Morales eventually retired after losing bouts in the lightweight division (he lost to David Diaz who was eventually turned into a pulp by Pacquiao).

ssb: The big dude who walked with Manny is Batista, a WWE wrestler that is part Filipino, part Greek.
View all comments by PinoyPacmanFan
I can second PPF’s post that Batista entered the ring with Pacquiao. I watched the fight live at a pub in the Philippines, a great locale.
Most of the foreigners in the pub were pulling for Pacquiao, and certainly all the Pinoys.
Other than citing Floyd Sr. as an asset to the Hatton cause, Milo provided the most accurate pre-fight analysis of this match.

Agree with pmmp totally. Boxing is on its arse. The UFC churns out at least a PPV a month, with at least 1-2 huge named showcase fights, plus a dearth of talent on the undercard. Then throw in WEC, K-1, DREAM, Sengoku etc etc and boxing just looks really lame in comparison
Just looking at the card for UFC 100 gives me chills and the upcoming PPVs/fights UFC has lined up are wank-worthy
Hope its not too long until the TV stations in Asia catch onto UFC. I know TrueSports show it, but the events are usually 4 months or so out of date, plus you also have the endure the really camp thai commentary. “”eeeooohhhhhooooooo ARMBAR na krub”
